I just moved a spa into an existing gazebo at my home and realized that I don't have enough vertical clearance to lift the cover. When I attempt to fold the cover over the gazebo is a couple of inches too low.

I was thinking of going with some sort of non-traditional cover but don't want to sacrifice insulation. I noticed the spacap cover at spacap.com. I saw another post and there wasn't really any positive said but no one replied that had actually used or seen one first-hand. Does anyone in this forum have knowledge of them?

Or... does anyone know of another solution other than raising my gazebo a couple of inches.

I am going to order a customized cover which is "like" a tri-fold instead of a bi-fold. The 3rd section will attach via velcro while the 1st and 2nd will function the same as a traditional cover.

Where do you get a custom cover? I have a clearance problem too. I just got my new tub and have it on a deck under a taller deck (but not tall enough - by 8"). I have a trashed shoulder and have a fairly heavy cover on it (Arctic has the walk-on covers).

I kicked the idea of carefully cutting the hinge and making them separate pieces (lighter by 1/2 and no clearance probs). Then I would simply use a stretchy locking strap to hold the 2 halves together (has a pillow inbetween for sealing). If it would pop up in the center, just get a set of "hurricane straps" to keep it flat.

I can't move it myself and it'll be enclosed in a screened-in porch (closing the lower deck).

Any better ideas or anyone see any issues with separating the halves?

Oh, on SPACAP - read here:

I thought I had found the Grail, you read and decide.
