Light is out on my '89 Sundance Cameo. Light sensor on the control panel works so I assume it's the bulb that's out...

Looking at the Balboa MoodEFX 22 LED model or ColorGlo Raydiance 24 LED model.

Couple of questions -

1) Are these types of spa lights compatible with my '89 Cameo? These appear to be 12V lights, which seems to be the standard.

2) Both look to have similar features. Are they basically the same or is one better than the other? Or are there other that are better than either of these?

They're all about the same. Buy the cheapest one you can find.

I just bought the 9 LED color change light. I really like it. It just pluged right into where the old lamp was. I do have a problem in getting mine to cycle through the colors. With the old lamp installed, when I turned off the light, I noticed that it would fade to off, instead of just going dark. It is a quick fade, about half a second or so. Anyway, turning on and off my LED light by the switch does not cause it to cycle. If I pull the plug where the wires to the lamp connect to the "brain", it will cycle, but once I turn off the light using the topside control, it will come on only in the white mode. I think that I will put a normaly closed push button switch in series with one of the power lines (the 12 volt supply to the lamp.) This should allow me to cycle the lamp. I will just have to figure a way to mount it. Does anyone have suggestion on how to make this work (like putting a resistor in parallel with the light, or something???) My spa does NOT have a dimming light control.

My spa is a Nordic DLX with a BL-70 control, I bought it used, but I think it was originaly bought in '96 or '97.

I was thinking about drilling a small hole in the wood side, and mounting a normally closed push button switch in the hole. Then I would cut one of the wires going to the lamp and connect the cut wire to the switch. Since the switch is normaly closed, the topside control would still switch the power to the lamp, and by pressing the switch, I would break the circuit and cause the LED light to cycle.

The 9 light LED lamp provides plenty of light for my spa. My spa is round, and holds 300 gallons of water. The effect of the light when the bubbles are on is great. The bubbles make the water cloudly, and the light really shows nice through the cloudly water. I really like the slow change cycle effect, and the purple light is great.

please see pic. the access "tunnel" to the lighting fixture ('89 Sundance Cameo), though only about 17" deep, seems to be inaccessible because it's behind the pump. i couldn't even get a good picture of it because it's so blocked. you can kind of see the hole just to the right of and beyond the pump drain spigot. i can't get my arm in there without moving the pump, which is set in place b/c it's connected to the pipes. so do i dismantle the innards, or get to it through the outside?

LOL I know EXACTLY what you are talking about...ignore this tunnel

What you do is drain the tub (yes it's a must) below your light lens. Then if you look closly, there are two indents in the face of the lens. Take a needle nose plier and place it in these two indents and unscrew! These types of lights are replacable from the front. Don't loose that "O" ring in there tho cuz that is the only thing that keeps water from leaking out.

well i was luxuriating in the cameo last night and felt around down there on the light lens, looking for the indents you mentioned. didn't feel any. oh well i guess draining the tub to see what's up is easier than uninstalling all the equipement to get to the light from behind...

Some tubs will use an inside accessible light like Charger mentioned, but there's not a lot of them. Sundance isn't the only one with this problem... Dimension One, Pacific Marquis... blah... Even with the equipment removed and having to go through the back you STILL need a 4 foot arm with headlights and eyeballs attached to deal with them.

so Pageup you're saying I need to drain the tub and access from the front, correct?
