I have a 1993 Sovereign HotSprings Hottub and recently the heater stopped working. I first talked to the dealer and they suggested unplugging one of the heaters, did so and it heated for a couple days with one element then quit. We then had the local dealer out and they said it was the heater elements were burnt out and had to be replaced. Did that and it heated for 1 day and quit. Now, whenever we try to plug the heater elements in to the circuit box of the hottub, it trips the 30amp breaker on the secondary breaker box (GFCI?)which is located outside under the deck. The inside breaker stays on. The 20amp stays working, which runs the pumps. We had an electrician out and he said there was nothing he could see that was wrong with the wiring. We took the circuit box out to see if something happened inside and there was a black burn mark on the inside panel and a blown varister (MOV?) and replaced that. Still no power getting to the heater. Keeps tripping 30amp breaker. The dealer has pretty much abandoned the project after getting paid for really doing nothing - we have two new very expensive heating elements that are useless! Winter is coming fast in Saskatchewan Canada, does anyone have any suggestions?

Give the dealer time, I'm sure they'll come back and make it right.

1st, does breaker stay on without heater(s) plugged in?

2nd, plug one in at a time. if one works and then the other trips it, one was probably bad to start with. leave the one plugged in that doesn't trip the breaker.

3rd, could be a burnt wire in the box, or wire arching. check female heater receptacles(where heaters plug into bx), melted looking?

I'm new here, but a 23 year hotspring dealer
