Post subject: Question for Charger 1 or anyone else about used hot tubs
PostPosted: Sun May 29, 2005 7:59 am
My question is how much would you pay for a used hot tub? Friends of ours are selling their hot tub to us. Its a VITA Spa - Elan LC model they purchased in Dec, 2000.....so its 5 years old.

Everything is in working order. There is some damage to the cabinet....and it needs a new lid. The damage was done by the lid. It was so water logged the lift gave out and broke the side panel.

It a very nice spa. Big! Seats 6-8...470 gal...61 jets.

Also if you don't mind tell....how much would it cost to get an old hot tub up and running....say if this one breaks down in a few years?

Thanks for your time!! ~~Kim

In all honesty, it would depend on what it is worth to YOU, based on comparison shopping on similar models, both used and new. I have sold fully functioning spas at the rate of $100 per average foot in diameter. Most of the time you will expect to spend double that, easy. Costs of down the road maintenance vary depending on the problem and part availability. For example, a Jacuzzi pump motor alone can cost upwards to 900 bucks, and a sundance control board can cost upwards to 1200 bucks. Then again, other spas have boards that run 250-500 and motors that run 150-300.
