Hello all,

Been looking around the site for a little bit and found some good information however, I have not found the information that I am looking for.

Can someone let me know where these pipes need to go (ie heater, pump, etc)?

<img src="http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a352/masdn/8110315c.jpg" alt="Image hosted by Photobucket.com"

Do I need to support the seat area or just the top outside ring?

<img src="http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a352/masdn/IMG_0775.jpg" alt="Image hosted by Photobucket.com">

I believe that this is the draining hole and it has come unattached, what is the best way to fix this?

<img src="http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a352/masdn/IMG_0777.jpg" alt="Image hosted by Photobucket.com">

Also, what is the best way to insulate this beast?

This is just the shell that I got for free, is this worth keeping when I need a pump and heater, frame, a good cleaning?

If it is worth keeping any ideas on a good place to get a heater/pump?

Let me know you thoughts.

Kevin

Not sure on the hole in question, need more information on it's location and such. Typically hot tubs don't have dedicated drains, they usually have 2 drains that go back to the pump, and somewhere else in the plumbing is a valve for draining. It could be a missing jet.

I have labeled what I can confirm for the plumbing, but if you could take a more detailed picture of that 3rd pipe, I might be able to tell ya what it's for.

I would just purchase a spapack which would have everything you need, pump, heater, blower (if you need one), control box, and spa topside control panel. Simple install, especially with your layout. Don't quote me, but I'm thinking around 500 give or take for the spapack.

Build a simple framework under the edge of the tub, and make sure the footwell is supported at all times as well as this is where 90% of the weight of the tub is located. The edge is merely for stability.

You can insulate with many types of insulation, everyone seems to have their own preference. I make my frames with 2" of pink high density closed cell extruded styrofoam insulation.

For some ideas on how to build the cabinet, check out the posts from myself, and Pageup, as we both have built cabinets. Mine details a little on actual structure, and his details very nicely the support suggested for the footwell. There is a section on completed hottubs in this forum where you will find them.

Figure all said and done, expect to have around 700 by time you have all your materials for the surround, insulation, and spa pack plumbing completed. Not bad for a hot tub eh?

Hello Charger_1

Thank you for the tips I really appreciate them.

For the footwell. If it is sitting on the concrete is that the support I need or do I need to build something?

sitting on the concrete would be just fine, but let me suggest that you might want to use that same foam insulation between the tub and the concrete. It will help insulate the footwell from the colder concrete, and it will also help preven condensation. Enclosing the entire cabinet (including the bottom) is a good idea for this reason.
