We live in the midwest and our temps right now are around 30 F, 40 if its a "warm" day.
We have purchased our spa and its waiting for us to have the area level so it can be delivered. Since we plan on eventually decking around a portion of it, we want to dig about 5 inches deep and do a 10x10 area with crushed limestone and compact it.
Problem is, the ground is too cold to dig! What have others done in the winter? Did you have to rent something to thaw the ground or do you have some home remedies? I really don't want to have to wait until April to use my new tub!
Any ideas and experiences are greatly apprieciated!

You could have a bonfire where your tub is going, then put it out and get diggin...
