Here is my current info:

Alkalinity perfect, PH a slightly high, hardness somewhat high (Las Vegas Water), Bromine levels 0, it does not matter what I do, I cannot get the "test strip" to show some color..

Four days ago I drained, refilled, added bromine base, metal guard, been running the pump regularily, I have new bromine tablets in the dosifier (5 tablets). Before the refill, I had somewhat same readings...

Can someone give me a hint?

TIA

Tia,

Getting the bromine level up is a matter of choosing the right chemicals.

Upon filling the tub add a bromine starter pak. (Granuals). This just brings the bromine levels up but does not santize yet.

Then put a floater in the water that uses brominating tables. Slightly different chemisty. This actually does do some sanitizing but really just slowly adds more bromine molecules in the water over time.

The jump starter is the Oxidizer. Add an enhanced oxidizer/shock that also converts bromide molecules to bromine molecules. This will cause a chemical reaction in the water that destroys biotics and clears up the water. A side effect is free cholrine molecules and free bromine molecules (Converted Bromide). Free chlorine does not smell.

Together these molecules will continue to sanitize the water.
You should now see a reading on the test strips.

If after a few bathing sessions you start to smell chlorine or the test strips begin to not register bromine/cholrine then the the biotic load is high and the free molecules have been converted to combine molecules (Chloride/Bromide), basically doing there job of sanitizing. When the free molecules are gone there is no more santizing action and you start to smell chloride (Clorox type Smell).

A common mistake is to lighten the addition of santizing agent when you smell chloride, but in reality what needs to happen is to increase the free chlorine molecules.

The only way to do that is to shock the water again with the oxidizer. This will free up the bromine and chlorine and remove the combined molecules.
