Folks,

I have a Hanna pHep4 meter, a Taylor K-2005 test kit, AquaChek strips and my spa dealer will check my water free of charge. The readings are never the same. My dealer's software/hardware-based system, ALEX, consistantly gave readings 0.2 units lower than my Hanna meter. I know my Hanna is calibrated--I have a Bachelors degree in Chemistry and the meter checks with the standards. The day my Taylor kit came in the mail, I took a water sample to my dealer just for another data point. This time, the Hanna read 7.4 and ALEX read 7.6. Not what I was expecting. Then,.. the Taylor test gave me 6.8. I did it twice. Same reading. The strips seem to agree more with the Hanna meter.

The Hanna corrects for the water temp. The strips obviously are dipped in the hot spa as well. The Taylor test and my dealer use water that has cooled somewhat. Could this be the reason?

Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

deadhead
