We recently installed a hot tub where I work that has an ozonator. We have 11 other tubs that do not have ozonator. I took a water sample to chemical supplier. The bromine tested to be 14ppm. The tub had been filled 3 days before. I also took a sample from another tub that was cleaned and filled the same day. Both were filled with "city water". Both have a plastice bottle with punched holes for the bromine. The chemical people said they did not know why bromine would be so high in one and not the other. They told me I should drain and refill the tub to lower bromine level. That is fine as a solution but I would like to know what to do to prevent this. Do we need to quit using bromine since it has the ozonator?

not sure about the weird levels, but bromine is definetely not as effective as chlorine in conjunction with ozone. that said, ozone is not efficient unless its set to run 24hrs per day
