I have owned a Dimension One Spa for several months now, and am still a bit confused as to what chemicals I should be using on a normal basis. Since my system has a VISION cartridge, I thought that this would cover the sanitizing of the water. Several times a week, I add non-chlorine shock to the water. I have had the water tested, and ph/alcalinity is fine. The water is NOT cloudy or scaly, and the water "feels" fine.

I periodically rinse the filters and/or clean them with solution that I bought. My question is: Should/Could I use another method in addition to the VISION cartridge to sanitize my water? I have been reading that I might be missing something by not adding Chlorine or Bromine to the water regularly. The reason that I ask, is I have been getting a rash on my face and hands, and have a feeling after reading some boards that there is definitely something going on in the water. My wife has been fine, but want to be sure I am doing all I can. Will adding Chlorine or Bromine to the water affect the VISION cartridge in a negative way? Any answers or advice would be most appreciated!!

I am not familier with the "vision" cartridge, what it is or what it does. I would contact the company and do some brain probing and find out what you can and can't use with it. It may be similar to Baquaspa which is a non-chemical idea for water treatment. Personally, I like to know that the germs are chemially dead! I personally like good ol' chlorine, since even though bromine isn't supposed to have an odor, I sure can smell something I don't like about it! But then again, I'm not normal!

yes ,you need to add Chlorine, the vision cartridge will help and you won't need as much, but depending on size you may need 1/2 cup or so of chlorine every few weeks. and you can then cut back on the shock to maybe once a month or less,I am a firm believer in the test drops not the strips, but the strips are much quicker and easier to most, if you test once or twice a week you can use less chemicals, I always keep on the low side of normal since I have more sensitive skin. I have never had any problems with the pool or hot tub, using the test drops. I found that most Shock treatments are harder on my kids skin, then slightly more chlorine so that may be your problem, if you are using it weekly. also Bromine is more harsh on them, only use shock if you have several "dirty" people in the tub, lots of kids etc..... if you stay on the chemicals (test once or twice a week) you may not need shock more then 2x per year
