I have a Hot Springs spa which has a spot in the filter cavity for a, AG Plus Silver ionizer. How much difference does this product make in the overall condition of the spa? I find that I forget about it a lot since I don't see it unless I'm cleaning the filters and I don't always have time to run to the store and buy one.

I also have no clue how to judge how much life is left on the unit... I've heard people mention Spa Frog (http://www.kingtechnology.com/products/ ... pafrog.htm) and the 3rd product on that page looks like it might be a drop in replacement for the Silver cartridge. Does anyone have any comments on which is better or any other products (or if these really don't do much in reality)?

Hello.

The AG+ cartridge pretty much coats bacteria so it can't multiply. If you have ozone on that spa then you have to replace the cartridge every 4 months and use a non-chlorine shock before using the spa.
If you don't have ozone then you would use about half the amount of chlorine than normal. I find it not cost effective to use AG+ without ozone, chlorine is pretty cheap.
Never use tablets in a spa - chlorine & bromine tablets are very acidic.

Spa frog uses a mineral cartridge and a bromine cartridge - it is not AG+. Personally I don't like it but some of my customers do like it.
