Hey,

Im pretty new to the world of pools and spas but have already gotten a very good understanding of the chemistry involved. Ive been having trouble keeping chlorine levels above 0 in my hot tub and have been using a lot of the Bioguard spa chlorine granules. The hot tub is only used moderately, normally 3 people every 2 days. Ive been using large amounts of the granules, higher then the directions recommend. Im down to the last little bit in the relatively small bottle that came with our new house. I do have a very large amount of pool chemicals left over from the opening though. Mainly the shock we used, concentrated chlorinating granules...also from Bioguard. I looked at the active ingredients in both and they seem identical. The only thing I notices is the diameter of the pool granules is a little larger.

Is there any harm in using pool products in my spa, they seem to be much cheaper and would really decrease the storage we need.

P.S. Ive been using pool ph decreaser with success (Bioguard Lo 'N Slo"). Could that cause any harm?

Thanks a million,
Jeff

I've used spa and pool chemicals interchangably, without any adverse effects. I regularly use pool shock for the spa chlorine since it is a higher concentration of the same chlorine than spa chlorine, with less inactive ingredients as well.
