A couple years ago we thought it'd be cool to buy a hot tub and install it outdoors in our backyard. Well, after a few weeks of glorious enjoyment I started breaking out in a rash. I'd never had this problem before and my wife doesnt get rashes from the tub. the QUACKS (doctors) did NOT know what it was or what to do about it beside of course dispense expensive prescription steroids to temporarily alleviate the maddening itching. I consulted hot tub water "experts" online and local stores to try various voodoo alternative water treatment chemicals. I tried to switch from Bromine to Chlorine, no improvement. tried shocking the heck out of the water with gallons of bleach. refilled every two weeks . the water always felt good when fresh but about the time I'd get the chemistry right BANG here came the itch back! I even tried a copper based system for purifying the water. Someone on this sight had said they had some relief from something called a Baqua system which is expensive and requires more frequent water changes. The Baqua is the ONLY thing I never tried because last year I got fed up with the whole thing and the spa sits empty with tubes full of antifreeze and hoping nothing's broken from the extreme cold we've had this winter. If anyone out there has had some psoriasis or eczema or whatever it is and found a water treatment systems that is tolerable let me know. Until I find a definite solution I'm done with the spa. I've been out of it for nearly a year and just now getting rid of the last of the redness on my ankles! thanks to Psoriasin ointment which is far cheaper and more effective than anything the quacks came up with. NO solutions? SPA FOR SALE! nice Arctic Spa Frontier model, CHEAP!

Hey JHK - It's frustrating. I have the same problem and am probably the one who recommended Baqua Spa to you in the past. It's still the only thing I have found that doesn't give me a rash. I've experimented with all kinds of different systems and always end of going back to Baqua Spa. I've had the same experience with doctors and dermatologists. They call it idiopathic dermatitis, which means they don't know what is causing it even though I tell them it's the hot tub chemicals. I even had an allergy test where the poke you with about 80 different allergens and look for reaction. It came negative on all counts. Try the Baqua Spa before selling the tub. I just switched back with fresh water and enjoyed a couple of good soaks over the weekend. Good Luck!
