I am a big and tall guy 6'6' and have sat in may funky designed big tubs yet still find myself not being deep enough into the tub due to my long torso.

I am looking to buy or find a good used hot tub (budget is less than $1000) I have a dedicated 110 hot tub feed on my deck where the previous owners had a 6x6 hot tub, and the deck has been re-inforced underneath for the extra weight.

So in those respects I am ready for a medium to smaller tub, wife NOT interested in tub, but I am and used the one at my gym everyday before we moved... (so I miss it)...

Would like to just know what models/makers to look for that offer no frills medium to smaller (say 2-4 person) yet DEEP seating type tubs. I am not into the whole spa sound recliner type large units, just something that is deep enough that when I sit in it I am at least 3/4 into the tub and that hopefully I can find in the free to $1000 range.

Thanks for any ideas or suggestions on what to look for - I have done the dream shopping and gone to the retailers and wet tested hot springs nordic etc and one nordic seemed perfect (but was empty) but it was 40 inches deep and had basic wrap around round design seating (warrior xl) but it was 4 grand even being a floor model (way out of my budget)...

Since this will be mainly me (95% of the time just me and sometimes my daughter who is 5 who will want to go in im sure) but not my wife and neighbors etc, I am open to smaller older units just want input on who might make a DEEP smaller older unit in the 1000 or less range??

Thanks for any help,

Bill :)

I am 6'3" and I feel your dilema. Of the tubs I have had, most of the time the larger units are the ticket (6 person plus). I did have at one time a 1997 Jacuzzi (not sure of model) that was deeper than the norm for a 4 person. It was 35" deep, but the way the seats were laid out and designed, I could comfortably strech my legs fully extended to the opposite side seat with room to go, and have water to my shoulders (not over). The tub was 6' x 6.5'. No lounger, just 4 jump seats, waterfall, and light. I just sold it 2 months ago for 700. A similar unit from a private party would probably go for around 1000 to 1300 bucks.

Another option is a Coleman (Sunlighter?) which have been around since the early 90's, are 6' in diameter round tub, have a multi level bench seat all around it (so it's more like the classic redwood hot tub barrels) and are about 37" deep. I was able to strech in that in the same fashion and have water just above my chest. I have seen them from 500-1100 bucks on Ebay. I sold mine for 550 last year.

Hope that helps a little.
