I was considering buying a used spa, but I am a spa newbie, so I'm not sure if I should follow through with the deal. The spa worked last winter, but in the spring it wouldn't run. It holds water, and other than not working its in good shape. The gentleman wants $50 for it. Oh its a 6 person tub. Should I follow through with it. If so do you have any idea what is wrong with it?
Thanks, Aron

What brand of tub is it? How old is it? What does he mean it doesnt run? The tub doesnt power on? The heater doesnt run?
I would be scared if I knew nothing more then what you have told us so far.

A spa is more like a marriage counselor with bubbles. try to avoid the temptation to over buy.
Seems everybody wants a huge spa. Truth is, you will generally be in it either alone or with one other person.
discuss with the dealer exactly which parts you want massaged most. Upper back, lower back, neck, shoulders, calves, feet, etc. There are a gazillion different types of jets each of which is designed to massage certain areas.

First see the cost of new one, if this one is very cheap as compare to new one then think about it, also see the physical condition also.

You need more information as to exactly what's not working. Once you know that, you can ask around for reputable dealers who will service this particular make/brand of spa, and what they would charge. Then decide if the total cost of labour and parts will be worth it, compared to the cost of buying a smaller new tub that would come with warranty.
I agree with martinpeter about using it either alone or with one other person. Forget the fairy-tale fantasies of having hot tub parties for all your friends. Most people, believe it or not, are turned off by the thought of sitting in a hot tub with a bunch of other people. Trust me, we bought a 7-seater, and have tried to entice our friends to go for a soak, and the majority just say "no thanks." I can totally understand. I sit in my own hot tub, but I would be hesitant to use a friend's or neighbour's tub, simply from a hygenic standpoint. There are so many skin cells and bodily fluids like sweat that end up in the tub; even with the sanitizers, it's still yucky to sit in somebody else's sweaty water.
