So my Mountain Springs Spa started smelling the other night while I was in it. Couple of days later the breakers went (thank goodness my installation of GFC's worked :D ).

Upon further investigation the 5 rail barrier strip in the control box had corroded and created a short melting one of the 5 rails. I ordered a new one from PLATT, cleaned up the old unit and tried to install it back in.

I thought I took a picture before dis assembling, but was wrong and so I took a guess at it. Reset the breaker and it blew again. So I tried to wire up as shown in the picture and know when the GFC is turned on I get 220 Volts to my control box, but nothing is coming on.

Did I fry my control board? I am a mechnical engineer with lots of electronic experience so hoping I can figure out how to fix it myself. What should I look for and were would I get parts to fix the control board?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well I spoke with an electrical engineer here at my work and he says I should check my ground neutral connections in my house because I might have them reversed. This would have allowed the hot tub to work for years, but I probably fried my control board.

No hot tubing for a while ....... at least until I can afford a new control board. Any one have one they want to sell to me?

Well $250 later and my hot tub will be back up and running. Before wiring it up I am going to trace my wiring from my main breaker to the hot tub and make sure everything is correct.

Fortunately I just got paid.

Where did you get your control board?

I think I may have a similar problem / model.

Any local hot tub dealer can probably do it for you. I got mine from Care Free Pool and Spa here in Portland, OR. Mike the tech there found my replacement board after calling Balboa.
